[Note: second in an occasional series]
Each month the Newsletter carries an interview with both a team member of RAKScraps and a member of RAKScraps. How are those members selected? What does it take to become a featured member? Well, here’s Tammy Bunch’s take on what she does to get us those monthly interviews:
For the Team Member Interview: I have a list of the team members and we have been trying to go by senority for the interviews. I have contacted a few who have not answered, but for the most part people respond well. We have a set questionnaire, although it was re-evaluated this year and some of the questions were changed. We do ask for a layout that is All About Me [AAM] for the newsletter and ask them not to publish it until after the newsletter is out so it can be a surprise.
For the Member Interview: For the member, this can be a bit trickier. I look to see who has been actively posting in either the forums or in the gallery. I try to pick people who have “enough” layouts so they can be used for Shannon’s Scraplift Challenge. Sometimes I’ll ask the staff it they have any suggestions for a member interview - just in case I’ve missed someone obvious. It has been quiet lately, so it is hard to choose people who are currently active.
Both interviewees get a set of questions [with a date by which I need the answers back!] and the AAM layout request. I then forward the interviews to Barbara, the newsletter editor, after checking for spelling or grammatical errors.
The questions do not take long to answer and they’re pretty standard ones - such as your real name, how long you’ve been scrapping, what inspires you, and tips for new scrapbookers. If anyone wants to be a featured member, let me know and I’ll take it into consideration; more than likely you’ll be featured really soon!
