Returning from holiday, a fashion magazine was left on my airplane seat by the previous occupant. Lacking better reading material, I flipped through the magazine. My eye was caught by the subhead of one section that said, in part: Pick your style personality and punch up your wardrobe.
In examining the suggestions, I realized that these apply not only to fashion but also to scrapbooking.
- Trendy: a bold graphic background or an unexpected detail that makes a statement
- Classic: neutrals with classical timeless shapes or designs
- Glam: eye-catching jewel tones with a touch of bling
- Boho: a dominant pattern with ethnic or artisanal accents
- Minimalist: clean, modern lines with subdued colours
- Girlie: pastels and exaggerated details such as bows, ribbons, or flowers
Can you find your style or combination of styles? Why not try “punching up” your scrapbook pages by scrapping out of your comfort zone? Add some “glam” to a “classic” page or try a different style entirely. Just like an accessory can make an outfit, an element might “make” your page. Give it a try, you can always delete it if you don’t like it.
A great source of inspiration for trying a new style is the RAKScraps Gallery. Take a look around - maybe even go back a few months to see some older pages. If you select one poster’s gallery you may see a change of style over a year or even a few months. Some people keep a basic theme of one type [such as minimalist], but will have a few girlie, glam, or trendy pages or elements thrown in. Challenge yourself and dress up your pages - it could be fun.
I just noticed [remember that part about being on holiday?] that Angela is hosting the Blog Challenge 3, which requests that people look through the gallery. Why not combine figuring out your style with the challenge?
[Yes, this doesn’t have a lot, if anything, to do with the newsletter. It was just something I noticed on holiday and thought it might be more interesting to read about - opposed to my musings on Arizona Fall League or Arizona Instructional League baseball games.]

this is great
